Seeing RED in Interior Design

I believe if you are going to design a RED room,
you should put your whole heart into it. Red is not a color you use
in a design plan on a whim.

Color has a huge impact on our emotions, our perceptions,
and our spiritual and physical well being.*

Put some Red in your life when you want:
increased enthusiasm and interest,
more energy,
action and confidence to go after your dreams,
protection from fears and anxieties.

Do you feel the above feelings,
when you look at the following rooms?

Red is a color that kisses our souls when it is used
in a room that we love!

I hope each of you is enjoying a wonderful
Valentine's Day Weekend!

They are at it again...Cathedral Tour of Homes 2014

Sunday, February the 2nd was a perfect weather day in Northeast Georgia.
We started off with some fog, as the Touring Girls
headed into Atlanta. But the farther we got away from the lake,
the nicer it got.
We were on a mission to see the seven homes that were on the
St. Phillips Cathedral Tour of Homes.

What a treat we had ahead of us!
*This will be a very picture heavy blog post!

We started out with a beautiful french home. This is without a doubt
one of the most incredible homes I have seen in Atlanta.

This Living Room is French design at it's very best!

The home was built in 2000 and was designed by aarchitect Charles Heydt.
It was built for Ginny Magher and Craig Magher. Ginny Magher is
a very talent interior designer and with another designer, Judy Jordan,
they did not missed a single detail. These pictures will confirm that!

This is how the bedroom looks with the present owner.

and their homes in the Provence area of France go HERE

You enter into the courtyard of this next home
through these beautiful gates.

This beautiful home, belonging to Tom and Ruth Dobbs Anthony, is in a
Mediterranean-Italianate style. The lot where this house stands
was original purchased by Mrs. Anthony's parents in 1951.
In 2008 the house they built was torn down and the one above
was finished in 2010.

I wish I had interior pictures of this magnificent estate. I
searched  and searched, but could not come up with a source.
Ruth Anthony designed her home with a nod to Palm beach Design.
It is the perfect back drop for their art and porcelain collection.
These collections were the spotlight of their home and quite
impressive!

The back was as spectacular as the front!

This classic Georgian house was built in 2007. It was designed
to have the feel of rural homes in Virginia. It is the perfect
place to showcase the home owners furniture and art.

Beautiful wall coverings and fabrics reflect the homeowners
classical taste.

This sun room filled with natural light, wonderful fabrics.
rugs and accessories is a favorite room for the family
and their four legged friend!

Our next stop was a beautiful home designed by
Robert Norris of Spitzmiller Norris. This home, located on
West Paces Ferry, has all the charm of an East Coast
Country Home.

The owners had previously worked with
Spitzmiller Norris when they lived in Charlotte and had
this home designed when they moved to Atlanta. in 1998.

The entire home was renovated in 2012.

The kitchen is one of the favorite gathering places in this home.

The last stop of our tour was in Buckhead at the
Muscogee Condominiums. There were three of these town
homes on the tour. Each had their own unique style and charm.

The first stop was designed by Carol Curtis and her daughter
Sarah Norwood. For Curtis's Atlanta home.

A hand painted Chinese screen makes a beautiful backdrop
in the dining area off the living room.

The master bedroom is a calm retreat for the owner. It has
a mix of American pieces and Paris flea market finds.

A lovely little corner of her dressing room.

The guest bedroom was designed for Sarah Norwood when
she comes to visit her mother.

Our next condo belongs to designer, Sarah Beth Loughlin.

I love how she mirrored her living room wall to open
up the space and reflect light.

This beautiful English secretary once belonged to
the designer's mother in law.
The upholstered headboard and swing arm lamps
take up less space in this condo bedroom.

Beautiful detail on this dressing table!

A touch of plaid is on the love seat, the wall behind, and also on
the window treatments. All three condos made excellent use
of built in pieces for storage.
If you would like to see more of Sarah Beth's condo and her mountain
home in Tiger, Ga. go HERE

Our last stop is the Atlanta home of designer Allyson Kirkpatrick.

Allyson's home and design business is in Huntsville, Alabama.

All three condos had one of these bar niches.
I love the way Allyson styled hers.

I hope you have enjoyed taking the tour with me again!
Be sure and watch for the Cathedral Antique Show and Tour for 2015!
