back to school! It is when the beautiful mountain town of Cashiers, North
Carolina has their Designer Showhouse. For the past several years, the
Touring Gals and I, have piled in the car and hit the road
for a day of design fun.
With this group, where we are going to eat is a big priority! So our first stop
was the Old Edwards Inn in Highlands. We always say we are going to try
somewhere new, but somehow we always end up back here.
This year was a bit different. We love to eat outside, and our favorite spot
to dine, is in their outdoor wine garden. This was not an option, due to a rain
shower, so we moved inside. Our dining experience always starts with their
wonderful homemade pimento cheese and their garden in a glass, also know
as a bloody mary! When we came outside the rain had backed off, so
onward... up the road to Cashiers we went.
We were so glad the sun came out, so we could appreciate the beautiful
landscaping around the front of the house and driveway. This water feature
was one of the first things to greet us.
Next to the water feature was a rustic seating area. This would be the perfect
place to sit and enjoy your morning coffee or an evening glass of wine.
This years house was over 10,000 square feet. It was very difficult to get a
good picture of the entire front. But these two will give you an idea of how
beautifully it work into the surrounding areas.

In the past, some creative blogger or designer has posted some interior photos.
I had to do some detective work to find pictures. I wanted to give you an idea of
how wonderful this house truly is.
Some of the pictures, like the one above, were taken off the real estate
website, Katie Miller Real Estate, that has the house on the market.
You can go HERE to see her website. Next August, Atlanta Homes and Lifestyle
will have pictures of this years showhouse. If you would like to see the pictures
and their article of the 2011 showhouse go HERE.
This is the master bedroom. I love the way designers, Kreis Beall and
Mary Prillaman Holland, used fresh, new fabrics, including orange tones,
to introduce a new feel to the older pieces such as the four poster bed,
wing chair and tapestry.
Can't you imagine having a calgon moment in this tub at the end
of a stressful day!
go to the real estate link I mentioned above, you can see the unique shower
some pictures of the fabulous kitchen, and interior details such as the doors
and beams.
Every year one of my favorite rooms will be designed by the very talented,
Francie Hargrove. Francie and I are both graduates of Brenau College. We met
for the first time at her senior design show, I went to college with her sister and
also knew her parents. But that has nothing to do with admiring her rooms.
as you can certainly tell from these pictures!
Francie's porch in the 2011 showhouse has been one of my all time favorite
showhouse rooms!
I hope next year you too will be able to take the trip up to Cashiers for
their showhouse. If you can't wait until then,The Second Annual
Cashiers Historical Society "Quail Run Antiques Show" will be coming up
in October. One of my favorite designers,Charles Faudree, will be signing
his new book. You can read about our meeting Charles and Leslie Jordan
